Summarizer;

This is a true story about a boy named Richard Wright, it’s about his troubles in the rough streets of Memphis and his abusive mother. He has a very strict mother. His father is absent, but Richard doesn’t understand where he is. The age is not totally clear, my guess is that he’s about eight or nine years old. You can tell in the story that they hardly ever have any money and that’s probably why their mother can’t afford them going to school. It also says in the story that their mother tells Richard and his brother that they have to learn how to dress themselves. That’s why i think that he isn't older than nine.

Richards father left his family behind. The problem is that he was the one working and paying for food for the whole family. One day his father didn't come home. Richard and his little brother didn’t understand why. When Richard asks his mother why his father left she just tells him that he’s too young to know. Now that his father is gone Richard has to be the man in the house, in the beginning he’s proud. But not long after problems occur. When his mother sends him out to buy some groceries there are some boys that beat him. Of course Richard gets scared and runs home but his mother shuts him out and forces him to meet the bullies. It all ends with that he gets a stick from his mother and fights back. His mother teaches him that the only way to survive in the streets of Memphis is to fight back.
